The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (DMRC) has secured the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contract for Chennai Metro Phase 2 with a bid of ₹5,870 crore, beating Deutsche Bahn International Operations GmbH (DB IO), which quoted ₹7,654.6 crore.The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) had invited bids for this contract in August 2024. After evaluating technical bids on March 10, 2025, the financial bid was opened on March 11, confirming DMRC as the lowest bidder.
Contract Details
Duration: 12 years (extendable by 3 years based on performance)
Scope: O&M for Corridor-3 (Madhavaram Milk Colony – Siruseri SIPCOT-II), Corridor-4 (Lighthouse – Poonamallee Bypass), and Corridor-5 (Madhavaram Milk Colony – Sholinganallur), along with maintenance depots at Madhavaram, Poonamallee, and Semmancheri.
Start: Begins with the final phase’s operational launch.
With this contract, DMRC will play a key role in ensuring efficient operations, maintenance, and service quality for Chennai Metro’s ambitious Phase 2 expansion.
