Former AIADMK minister and current Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, R. B. Udhayakumar, was arrested today during a protest at the Ve. Sattripatti Police Station in Melur Taluk.
Udhayakumar had gone to the police station to advocate for stricter action after a suspect, Prabhakaran, allegedly attacked officers and damaged property there following a police search at his house related to a murder case.
When police prevented Udhayakumar from entering, he and his supporters staged a sit-down protest outside the station. Despite negotiations, Udhayakumar refused to disperse and was subsequently arrested along with several supporters .
