The trailer of Desingu Raja 2, the much-anticipated sequel to the 2013 comedy hit, was unveiled on Friday, ahead of the filmâs theatrical release. Directed by Ezhil, the film stars Vemal in the lead, returning with his signature comic timingâthis time in the role of a quirky police officer.The trailer maintains the light-hearted, slapstick tone of the first part and is filled with goofy moments and colourful visuals. Interestingly, it doesnât reveal much about the filmâs plot or the protagonist’s motives, keeping the audience guessing about the storyline.
The ensemble cast includes Pujita Ponnada, Harshitha, Pugazh, Sneha Gupta, Singampuli, Chaams, Madhumitha, Vinoth, Muthu, and Ravi Mariya. Several members from the original film, including Ravi Mariya, Singampuli, Chaams, and Vemal himself, are back, adding nostalgic value for fans of the first installment.
Desingu Raja 2 has Selva R handling cinematography, Anand Linga Kumar as the editor, Siva Sankar as the art director, and stunt choreography by Fire Karthik. Babu and Preethi are on board as creative producers, with P Hari as executive producer and R Balakumar as producer alongside P Ravichandran.
Ezhil, known for his successful debut with Thullatha Manamum Thullum (1999) starring Vijay and Simran, later delivered hits like Poovellam Un Vaasam (2001), Deepavali (2007), and Desingu Raja (2013). His last directorial was Yutha Satham in 2022. With Desingu Raja 2, he seems set to bring back his trademark rural comedy flair to the big screen.
