Russia hopes the upcoming meeting between President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump will help improve relations.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov said the Alaska summit could also lead to direct passenger flights between the two countries.
Ryabkov said they expect the meeting to give a push to better ties. He added that restoring air links is one of the goals.
Trump said the meeting on Friday will be a āfeel-out meeting.ā Key Russian aide said Alaska is a logical venue because both countries have economic interests there.
Trump also said he will try to get some territory back for Ukraine. He noted that Russia controls important parts of Ukraine.
Trump said a future meeting might include Ukrainian President Zelensky. It could even have both Putin and Zelensky present.
