Chennai Police Commissioner A. Arun met with the newly appointed Tamil Nadu Director-General of Police (DGP) in-charge, G. Venkatraman, at the DGP’s office in Chennai. The meeting took place after Venkatraman formally assumed his new role.G. Venkatraman, a 1994-batch IPS officer, was appointed as the DGP-in-charge following the retirement of the previous police chief, Shankar Jiwal. Venkatraman will hold this position until a regular officer is appointed in compliance with Supreme Court guidelines.
The meeting between the two senior officials is a customary procedure following a change in top leadership, allowing for a smooth transition and discussion of ongoing law and order matters in the state.
