The Madras High Court has refused to grant anticipatory bail to TVK state general secretary Bussy N. Anand and deputy general secretary CTR Nirmal Kumar in connection with the Karur stampede case.
The case relates to the September 27 roadshow of actor-politician Vijay in Karur, where 41 people died and several others were injured in a stampede. Both leaders were named in the FIR filed after the incident.
Justice M. Jothiraman dismissed their pleas, clearing the way for further investigation.
Earlier, the court also set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by IGP Asra Garg to probe the tragedy.
State officials have said the investigation will continue and that no one will be shielded in the case.
