Madurai, Oct 8: The Madurai police have granted permission to BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagendran to conduct his political campaign in the district under specific conditions.
The campaign, titled “Tamilagam Thalai Nimira Tamizhanin Payanam”, is scheduled to begin on October 12 in Madurai. The first phase will cover several southern districts, including Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, and Virudhunagar, and conclude in Tirunelveli on October 17.
After the tragic Karur stampede incident that claimed several lives, police authorities have imposed stricter guidelines for political meetings and rallies across Tamil Nadu. Accordingly, the Madurai police have specified permitted areas such as Palanganatham Roundana, Munichaalai, Pudhur Bus Stand, and the Ambika Theatre area in Anna Nagar for the BJP’s campaign activities.
The opening event will be attended by BJP national president J.P. Nadda, who is expected to flag off the yatra and address the gathering.
