Annamalai has termed October 10, 2025, as an “embarrassing day” for the DMK government in Tamil Nadu, following multiple adverse rulings by the Supreme Court. In a statement, Annamalai highlighted that the judiciary has delivered swift and decisive judgments, contrasting with what he described as the DMK’s “abuse of power.”Annamalai pointed to several key developments:
Kidney Theft Investigation: The Supreme Court declined to intervene in the Madras High Court’s order for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into alleged kidney thefts linked to a hospital owned by a DMK MLA. The Court emphasized the necessity of impartiality in the investigation.
CBI Inquiry into BSP Leader’s Murder: The Tamil Nadu government’s attempt to halt a Madras High Court directive transferring the investigation of BSP leader Armstrong’s murder to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was rejected by the Supreme Court.
Karur Stampede Incident: The Supreme Court expressed dissatisfaction with the Madras High Court’s handling of the Karur stampede case, questioning its jurisdiction and the appropriateness of the SIT probe.
Annamalai emphasized that these developments reflect a pattern of the judiciary acting swiftly and impartially, holding the DMK government accountable for its actions.
