A tragic collision between two state-run buses on Sunday evening near Nachiyarpuram in Sivaganga district has claimed at least 11 lives and left over 20 passengers injured.According to police and local officials, one bus was travelling from Kangeyam (Tiruppur) to Karaikudi, while the other was heading from Karaikudi to Dindigul. The crash occurred at around 5 p.m. on the Thirupattur–Karaikudi main road, when the two buses collided head-on.
Emergency responders — including fire and rescue teams — rushed to the scene after locals alerted them. The injured were transported to nearby hospitals: Karaikudi Government Hospital, Thirupattur Government Hospital, and Sivaganga Government Medical College Hospital.
Of the victims, eight died instantly at the crash site. Three others succumbed to their injuries after being admitted to hospital.
