AIADMK is making lavish arrangements for its general and executive committee meeting to be held tomorrow at the Sri Varu Venkatajalapathy Palace marriage hall in Vanagaram, Chennai.

The meeting, scheduled for 10 a.m., will be attended by more than 2,000 participants, including executive and general council members, special invitees, former ministers, district secretaries, and leaders of various party wings.

Party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, projected by supporters as the “future chief minister”, will preside over the deliberations, which are seen as a crucial platform to strategise for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

To facilitate the large turnout, separate arrangements have been made in the adjoining open ground for food preparation, dining, and vehicle parking. Former ministers K.P. Munusamy, S.P. Velumani and Dr C. Vijayabaskar have inspected the venue, including the route of EPS’s arrival, seating arrangements, and food facilities.

According to former minister and Tiruvallur Central district secretary P. Benjamin, this year’s meeting is not a routine annual exercise but one designed to lay the foundation for electoral victory in 2026.

LED screens are being set up at multiple points to enable clear viewing of the proceedings, and party managers have been supervising and expediting the work for the past week.A grand reception has been planned along the stretch from Koyambedu flyover, on the Tiruvallur district border, to the Vanagaram venue to welcome Palaniswami.

Traditional folk performances like maanattam, oilattam and karagattam will greet him on the way, while roads will be lined with arches and banners bearing images of party icons M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa. Large crowds of cadres and supporters are expected to gather at key junctions such as Koyambedu Metro station, Nerkundram, Maduravoyal and Vanagaram to accord EPS a rousing welcome.

With the Assembly polls approaching, the high-profile meeting has generated considerable political interest across Tamil Nadu, as observers look for signals on AIADMK’s strategy, messaging and organisational readiness for the 2026 electoral battle.
