Congress strategist Praveen Chakravarty has downplayed his recent meeting with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay, insisting that the interaction was informal and had no political agenda.
He said that not every meeting needs to have a strategy behind it and suggested it could simply have been a casual visit over idli, vada and dosa, or a conversation about films.
Chakravarty also clarified that he sees nothing wrong in meeting Vijay and firmly denied any plans to join TVK or explore an alliance with the party. He rejected speculation that his visit had triggered confusion within the DMK–Congress alliance, asking whether anyone from the Congress had actually claimed there was such a problem.
Stating that the DMK–Congress partnership remains stable and free of internal discord, he said talk of a possible TVK–Congress front exists only in sections of the media. According to him, the narrative of alliance strain has been media-driven, while, on the ground, the existing coalition in Tamil Nadu continues without any rift.
