Tamil Nadu’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Archana Padnayak has said that details of voters who are deceased, displaced, untraceable or duplicate will be published on district and CEO websites as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. This is being done to ensure transparency ahead of the release of the draft voter list on December 19.
Ahead of the draft electoral rolls being made public, Booth Level Officers have prepared lists of electors who could not be contacted after multiple visits, including those who have died or moved away. These lists have already been shared with recognised political party agents so the true status of each voter can be confirmed and any errors corrected before the final publication.
Once the draft electoral rolls are released, members of the public will be able to check the online lists to verify whether their names appear correctly or if they have been placed in the absent/displaced categories. This step allows voters to identify mistakes and take corrective action before the final rolls are published.
