To handle the increased passenger rush during the Christmas and New Year holidays, Southern Railway has announced special train services between Tirunelveli (Nellai) and Tambaram.Special trains from Tirunelveli to Tambaram will run on December 28, 2025, and January 4, 2026. On both days, the train will leave Tirunelveli at 11.30 PM and reach Tambaram at 10.55 AM the next day. The train will run via Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruchirappalli and Villupuram.
On the return route, special trains from Tambaram to Tirunelveli will run on December 29, 2025, and January 5, 2026. These trains will depart Tambaram at 3.30 PM and arrive in Tirunelveli at 4.00 AM the next morning.
A total of four services will operate under Train Nos. 06166 and 06165. The trains will have 1 AC Two Tier coach, 2 AC Three Tier coaches, 9 Sleeper coaches, 4 General Second Class coaches and 2 Divyangjan-friendly Second Class coaches.
Advance reservations for these special services opened at Southern Railway booking counters and authorised online platforms.
