The Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer has announced special camps at more than 4,000 polling stations in Chennai as part of the ongoing effort to update the state’s voter list ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
These camps will be held on December 27 and 28 to help eligible citizens add their names to the electoral roll and make corrections if needed.
The camps are being organised under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, following the publication of the draft electoral rolls on December 19. Eligible citizens whose names are missing, as well as newly qualified voters who have turned 18, can visit their nearest polling station to submit Form 6 for inclusion. Voters can also use Form 7 to object to entries or request deletions, and Form 8 to update address or other details.
Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik said the initiative aims to ensure that every eligible voter is accurately registered before the final list is published. Similar special camps will also be held on January 3 and 4 to provide further opportunities for voters to register or update their details.
The voter list revision is part of a larger exercise by the Election Commission of India to maintain accurate and updated electoral rolls, allowing all eligible citizens to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections.
