Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol. Thirumavalavan claimed that actor‑politician Vijay, president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is reluctant to openly oppose the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) — saying this hesitation raises questions about his political convictions and future direction.
Addressing reporters on political developments, Thirumavalavan said that if there truly were political interference affecting Vijay’s film Jana Nayagan, then the actor should speak out clearly against the BJP instead of remaining silent. “If there is political interference by the BJP, he should speak about it openly,” he said, adding that Vijay’s lack of direct criticism suggests he is afraid to confront the BJP or Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government — an assertion that has sparked debate in political circles.
Thirumavalavan also claimed that some actors and political strategists are attempting to push Vijay into an alliance with the BJP‑led bloc, and that such a move could complicate his political credibility. “If he joins the BJP alliance under pressure, it would raise questions about his political future,” he warned. The VCK leader urged Vijay to clarify his stance to the public for the sake of transparency and trust among voters.
Vijay, meanwhile, has repeatedly stated that his party sees the DMK as its political rival and the BJP as its ideological opponent, insisting on autonomy rather than aligning with any national party.
