The AIADMK has strongly criticised actor and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay after he called their party a “corrupt force.” AIADMK leaders hit back at Vijay’s remarks made at his party meeting in Mamallapuram. The party’s IT wing called Vijay “Panaiyur Pannaiyar” (zamindar of Panaiyur) and accused him of earning crores of rupees from selling cinema tickets on the black market, calling it a clear act of corruption. They also rejected his claim that AIADMK is a “slave of the Union Government.”
AIADMK recalled that Vijay once waited for hours to meet a former Chief Minister for a film release, saying influence-seeking is also a form of corruption. They also questioned his leadership, pointing to the Karur stampede incident and his period away from public view.
Other politicians from the BJP and allied parties also criticised Vijay. Some said his political foray won’t last long and claimed TVK would struggle in Tamil Nadu politics.
The attack comes amid growing tension between Vijay’s new political party and established regional parties ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
