Eligible voters in Tamil Nadu have one last day — January 30 — to apply to have their names included in the voter list as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, election officials announced.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) extended the original deadline to January 30 to give eligible citizens additional time to ensure their details are correctly included in the rolls following earlier revision drives and camps held across the state.
The SIR process, which involves door‑to‑door verification and submission of enumeration forms, is aimed at updating and purifying the electoral rolls by adding new voters, removing ineligible names, and correcting existing entries. This revision comes as Tamil Nadu prepares for its Assembly election expected in April–May 2026.
So far, over 16 lakh applications to include names on the voter list have been received across Tamil Nadu. Those who have not yet submitted their applications can still do so by January 30 either online or by visiting their local Booth Level Officer (BLO) or electoral registration office.
Once the deadline passes, the final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on February 17. Citizens are urged to act promptly so that they can exercise their right to vote in the forthcoming elections.
Voters are advised to confirm that their names are correctly listed in the final roll after publication, ensuring no errors or omissions would affect their eligibility on election day.
