Around 67% of construction has been completed on the Chennai Metro Rail Phase II stretch between Koyambedu and Chennai Trade Centre, with services expected to begin in June 2026. The viaduct work is anticipated to be completed by the end of March. This section will provide a second interchange point between Phase I and Phase II networks at Koyambedu, significantly improving connectivity for commuters. Track laying has begun, with nearly 2 km completed out of the planned 12 km. Additionally, Metro stations between Alapakkam and Saligramam on the Poonamallee–Vadapalani corridor are expected to open in June. The double-decker corridor design will enable smooth interchanges between multiple corridors. However, construction at Butt Road and Alandur stations has faced delays due to earlier traffic permission issues, though authorities are working to accelerate progress and ensure timely completion. @@@@
