Chennai achieved greater growth in five years: Stalin

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Friday expressed pride, stating that Chennai has achieved development equivalent to 50 years within just five years under the DMK government. He made the remarks in a post on the social media platform X highlighting the major infrastructure and civic development works carried out in the city.
According to the Chief Minister, the face of Chennai has undergone a significant transformation in the past five years due to large-scale investments in infrastructure and urban development projects.
Listing the achievements, Stalin said that 36 bridges have been taken up across the city, of which 19 have been completed while 17 are under construction. In addition, 236 park development projects have been undertaken to improve green spaces in Chennai.
He further noted that the government has constructed 1,442 kilometres of stormwater drains to address flooding issues in the city. Major investments have also been made in the education sector, with ₹533 crore allocated for upgrading schools in Chennai.
The Chief Minister said that drinking water projects worth ₹5,447 crore have been implemented, while 3,455 kilometres of roads have been improved across the city to strengthen urban connectivity.
