In the 2026 Puducherry Assembly elections, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has significantly widened its lead, crossing the double-digit mark in early trends to reach 11 seats.

Led by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy’s AINRC, the alliance is showing strong performance in its traditional strongholds, with Rangasamy himself leading by over 1,900 votes in the Thattanchavady constituency.

Puducherry’s Home Minister and BJP candidate A. Namassivayam is also maintaining a solid lead of nearly 1,800 votes in Mannadipet, further solidifying the NDA’s “cushion” as counting enters the mid-morning phase.

The opposition INDIA bloc, led by the Congress and DMK, has begun to mark its presence and is currently leading in 3 seats, including a lead for the Congress in Lawspet.

Meanwhile, Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is proving to be a serious contender in several urban pockets, with early trends showing its candidates putting up a tough fight and securing significant vote shares in constituencies like Nellithope.

The Union Territory recorded an unprecedented voter turnout of 89.87%, and with the majority mark set at 16 seats, the NDA is currently the frontrunner to retain power.

Counting is being managed across six centers in Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam, with election officials expecting the final picture to emerge by early afternoon.

Security has been doubled at all counting locations to ensure the peaceful conclusion of the process as the remaining rounds of EVMs are tabulated.
