In a dramatic surge in Tamil Nadu election counting, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam has crossed the 100-seat mark after four rounds of counting, strengthening its position as the frontrunner in the 234-member Assembly.
With the halfway mark within reach, TVK leaders expressed confidence of forming the next government with an absolute majority. Party national spokesperson Felix Gerald said the early trends reflect a clear mandate from the people.
He claimed that voters have backed TVK as an alternative to established parties, adding that the electorate is “fed up” with traditional political formations. Gerald further stated that the party is confident of securing a full majority as counting progresses.
The strong showing by TVK has come at the expense of both the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, which are trailing in early trends.
Election officials, however, maintained that these are still evolving figures based on ongoing counting rounds, and the final outcome will be confirmed only after completion of the full counting process.
