Chennai, May 12:

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has invited applications for its BS degree programmes for the 2026 academic cycle, offering a major opportunity for students to access quality education without clearing the highly competitive Joint Entrance Examination. Interested candidates can apply online until May 31.
The institute is offering flexible, industry-oriented programmes in emerging fields, enabling learners from diverse educational backgrounds to pursue higher studies alongside their existing degree courses or professional careers. This initiative is part of IIT Madras’ broader push to expand access to technology-driven education across India.
The BS programmes available for admission include Data Science and Applications, Electronic Systems, Management and Data Science, and Aeronautics and Space Technology. These courses are open to anyone who has completed Class 12, with no upper age limit, making them accessible to both fresh students and working professionals.
One of the key highlights of these programmes is the flexibility in learning. Classes are conducted primarily online, while examinations are held offline at designated centres across the country. Students pursuing degrees such as BCom, BSc, BBA, or Engineering can also enrol simultaneously and complete the BS programmes alongside their regular studies.
IIT Madras has also introduced multiple exit options, allowing students to tailor their academic journey based on their goals. Depending on their progress, learners can exit with a certificate, diploma, or a full BS degree. According to Prathap Haridoss, Dean (Academic Courses), the programmes are designed to provide flexibility without compromising on academic standards.
To further improve accessibility, the institute is offering financial assistance to eligible students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, with fee support of up to 75%.
With no JEE requirement, flexible learning structure, and financial support, the IIT Madras BS programmes present a significant opportunity for students and professionals seeking high-quality education in cutting-edge domains.
