Chennai,  May 28:

Suresh Gopi chaired a high-level meeting in Coimbatore on May 26, 2026, to review key energy infrastructure projects being implemented by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) in Tamil Nadu, along with discussions on critical issues requiring immediate attention.
The Minister reviewed the progress of the Irugur–Devanagonthi Multi Product Pipeline Project, being executed at a revised cost of around ₹1,732 crore, which has achieved 82.6% physical progress. He also assessed the City Gas Distribution (CGD) project for Erode and Nilgiris districts, involving an investment of about ₹3,685 crore and currently at 44.6% completion.
The Irugur–Devanagonthi pipeline project, designed with a capacity of 3.5 MMTPA, is a key infrastructure initiative aimed at linking Tamil Nadu and Karnataka through a 355-km cross-country multi-product pipeline along with associated terminal facilities. The project is expected to significantly enhance fuel supply efficiency by ensuring faster, safer, and more environmentally friendly transportation of petroleum products. It is also projected to strengthen regional energy infrastructure, improve logistics efficiency, generate employment opportunities, and support long-term industrial and economic growth in western Tamil Nadu and neighbouring regions.
The meeting was attended by Subhankar Sen, Director (Marketing), BPCL, along with the Tiruppur District Collector and senior officials from Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation, National Highways Authority of India, the State Highways Department, district administration, and other key stakeholders involved in project execution. Detailed discussions were held on project status, implementation challenges, and measures required to ensure timely completion.
