Chennai, June 5:

AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Thursday demanded a CBI probe into the disappearance of 18 hard disks containing crucial data from the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) headquarters, alleging that the incident points to a larger conspiracy.

In a statement, Palaniswami said the missing hard disks reportedly held important and sensitive information, raising serious concerns over whether the incident could be treated as a mere case of theft.

Alleging an ulterior motive behind the disappearance, he claimed that the hard disks may have been deliberately removed to shield certain individuals. He also questioned whether there was any attempt by the ruling dispensation to protect those linked to a particular political party.

Calling for a transparent and impartial investigation, the AIADMK leader urged that the case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to ensure that the truth behind the disappearance is fully uncovered.

The incident has triggered political debate in the State, with demands mounting for accountability and clarity over the missing data from a key government department.
