Islamabad, June 5:
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong called on Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday, with the two sides discussing ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and implement decisions taken during the premier’s recent visit to China.
Sharif recalled his four-day visit to China in May, during which he met Chinese leaders and witnessed the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding aimed at deepening ties between the two countries.
He conveyed his regards to Xi Jinping and Li Qiang and described his meetings with the Chinese leadership as highly productive.
The prime minister emphasised the need for immediate follow-up on key decisions made during the visit and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
He called for expanding cooperation under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, particularly in agriculture, information technology, industry, special economic zones and the mining sector.
Sharif also stressed timely implementation of agreements signed between Pakistani and Chinese companies during a business conference in Hangzhou.
The discussions covered infrastructure projects, security and counter-terrorism cooperation, defence collaboration, economic support, and regional developments.
Ambassador Jiang reaffirmed China’s commitment to its longstanding partnership with Pakistan and pledged continued cooperation across multiple sectors.
