Chennai, June 9:

Senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday launched a strong attack on the C Joseph Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government, alleging that it is prioritising arrests over governance.

Speaking to reporters at the airport, she criticised the arrest of YouTuber Maridhas and claimed the government was selectively targeting critics. She said Chief Minister Vijay had earlier opposed such arrests during his campaign but was now acting differently in office.

Tamilisai also referred to the issue of missing hard disks from the Electricity Department, stating that the matter had been handed over to CB-CID for investigation. She alleged that the government was focusing on immediate arrests instead of addressing long-term administrative concerns.

She further criticised conflicting statements on the Waqf Amendment Act and accused the government of bias, while also raising concerns over the Tirupparankundram deepam lighting issue.

Responding to allegations against Maridhas, she said she did not support inappropriate remarks against women ministers but maintained her criticism of the arrest.
