England midfielder Jordan Henderson is set to miss the remainder of the FIFA World Cup after reportedly suffering a wrist injury during the team’s post-match celebrations following their Round of 16 victory over Mexico.
According to The Athletic, the 36-year-old will undergo surgery after injuring his left wrist while celebrating with England supporters.
Henderson reportedly fell awkwardly while attempting to climb over the advertising boards as the players joined fans in singing Oasis’ Wonderwall after the final whistle.Medical staff were immediately called onto the pitch after defender Dan Burn noticed Henderson clutching his wrist. The veteran midfielder was later stretchered off and taken to hospital.England head coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed after the match that the injury appeared to be serious.
