Chennai, July 14:

A formal complaint has been lodged against individuals and social media platforms accused of spreading false information about Ramesh, the Hon’ble Minister for the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department.

According to an official release from the Minister’s Public Relations Office, certain private individuals had allegedly carried out illegal registration of land belonging to the Dhandapani Swamy Mutt located at the foothills of Palani. In response, the HR&CE Department has already initiated departmental action and police investigations. It was also clarified that, citing pending legal disputes related to the land, multiple written instructions had earlier been issued by the Palani Joint Commissioner to the Sub-Registrar’s Office, strictly directing that no registration of the said land should be carried out under any circumstances.

The statement further noted that while these lawful and timely actions were being undertaken, certain politically motivated social media pages and sections of the media began circulating false allegations aimed at tarnishing the Minister’s reputation. These reports falsely claimed that the individuals involved in the illegal registration were relatives of the Minister and that the incident had occurred with his knowledge.

Dismissing these allegations as baseless and malicious, the Minister’s office confirmed that a police complaint has been filed against those responsible for spreading such misinformation. The complaint seeks strict legal action against individuals and social media accounts involved in defamation.

The statement concluded by warning that stringent action will be taken not only against those who have already spread false news but also against anyone attempting to circulate such misinformation in the future.
