Chennai, Sept 1:

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Monday announced the establishment of a Semiconductor Electronics Manufacturing Park at Madhuramangalam in Kancheepuram district at an estimated cost of Rs 175 crore.

The park will be developed through the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) and will house semiconductor manufacturing units as well as research and development facilities.

According to the Chief Minister, the project is expected to generate around 5,000 direct and indirect jobs and strengthen Tamil Nadu’s position in the semiconductor and electronics manufacturing sector.

The announcement is part of the State government’s broader strategy to attract large-scale investments in emerging technology sectors and expand the industrial ecosystem beyond traditional manufacturing.

The proposed facility is expected to provide infrastructure for companies operating in the semiconductor sector while also supporting research and development activities.

The Chief Minister also announced plans for a Multi-Modal Logistics Hub in Tiruchirappalli through the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO).

The proposed logistics hub is aimed at supporting the central region, where a large number of micro, small and medium enterprises are located. TIDCO will first conduct a feasibility study and prepare a detailed project report before taking up the project.

In another major announcement, Vijay said a Coimbatore FinTech Hub would be established at an estimated cost of Rs 400 crore.

The facility is intended to strengthen Coimbatore’s position as a centre for technology-enabled financial services and create new opportunities in the digital economy.

The three projects — the semiconductor park, Tiruchirappalli logistics hub and Coimbatore FinTech Hub — are part of the government’s efforts to expand investment, employment and technology-driven economic activity across different regions of Tamil Nadu.
