Coimbatore, Nov 3:
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president and former chief minister M.K. Stalin is scheduled to undertake an official party visit to Coimbatore on Wednesday, marking his first tour to the western industrial hub following recent state political transitions.
The visit is slated to feature both ideological events and key organizational development programmes across the district.
During his itinerary, Stalin will inspect the Periyar Arivulagam knowledge complex situated in Gandhipuram, an expansive infrastructure project conceptualized and developed under the previous DMK government at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore.
In the evening, Dravidar Kazhagam will host a formal felicitation ceremony at the VOC Grounds in honour of Stalin’s contribution toward establishing the sprawling educational and cultural memorial.
In an important organizational milestone, the DMK leader will also lay the foundation stone for a consolidated, modern party district headquarters at Neelambur on the city’s outskirts.
Party insiders noted that while Coimbatore currently operates through separate, constrained zonal offices for urban, northern, and southern wings, the upcoming unified campus will centralize regional operations, executive committee meetings, and cadre coordination under one roof.
