Bengaluru: Congress spokesperson and actress Vijayashanthi met Sasikala in Bengaluru prison Friday and it was confirmed by police officials today. Reports are saying that she sought Sasikala’s support for Congress’ grand alliance against the BJP.
Vijayashanthi quit cinema in 1998 and entered politics by joining BJP initially. She then came out of BJP to start her own party under the name Telangana. She joined her party with Telangana Rashtra Samithi headed by current Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. She contested polls and became an MP from Medak constituency. In 2014, Vijayashanthi moved out of Medak and joined Congress.
Vijayashanthi’s meeting with Sasikala who is lodged in Parapana Agrahara Prisons reportedly lasted close to one hour. Rumours have emerged that Vijayashanthi sought support from Sasikala and her party AMMK headed by T T V Dinakaran for Congress’ which is forming a nationwide grand alliance to rout out BJP in the upcoming election.
It is said that Sasikala has replied that she will let her know of her stand after discussing with party members.
