Chennai: TNCC chief and long-time friend of DMK president M Karunanidhi, S Thirunavukkarasar, expressed his grief at the death of the nonagenarian.
“He was a multi-faceted personality. He never saw defeat in his elections. Over 60 years, Tamilnadu politics revolved around him. He championed the rights of minorities. He determined the fate of national politics,” said the TNCC chief, recalling his political career.
“He was a wonderful speaker. His contribution to the development of Tamil was immense. He loved me a lot. He had attended all personal functions in my family. When I invited him to declare open the statue of MGR in Aranthangi, Karunanidhi accepted the invitation and came and declared open the statue,” said Thirunavukkarasar about his personal links with Karunanidhi.
“I still remember my interactions with him. He was Kalaithayin Thava Pudhalvan,” said the Congress chief.
