RIP Karunanidhi: Kollywood celebs post memorable photos

Chennai: It was a sad day for Tamilnadu as one of its great leaders, M Karunanidhi, breathed his last at 6.10 on Tuesday evening.

Paying homage to his mortal remains at Rajaji Hall, many party leaders and cine artistes came and offered their condolences to DMK working president M K Stalin and MP Kanimozhi.

A few actors went one step further and posted the memorable time they had with Kalaignar and expressed their sadness over his death.

ACTRESS TRISHA

One of the leading south Indian actresses, Trisha shared two pictures of herself with the DMK chief on her Instagram page. In one, she is present on the dais along with late director K Balachander. In another image, Trisha receives an award from the hands of Karunanidhi. Trisha’s caption for her pictures reads “Another era. Another end. Tamizh cinema will truly miss you. #RIPKalaignar.”

ACTOR SIDDHARTH

Always giving out his opinion on all topics, actor Siddharth speaks up against the Government of Tamilnadu denying Karunanidhi a place at Marina and later lauded the judges for giving the right judgement. When news of his death broke, Siddharth took to his Twitter page and tweeted “The last #Tamil Titan has fallen. Former TN CM #MKarunanidhi was an incomparable man. #Tamilnadu has lost at once its greatest contemporary political and creative enigma. Our beautiful language #Tamil will miss #Kalaignar #Karunanidhi. This void he has left will take ages to fill.”

ACTOR-POLITICIAN SARATH KUMAR

One of the versatile actors in Tamil industry, Sarath Kumar posted his feelings about the ‘katumaram’ chief, stating that by his speech and his love for Tamil , he has earned a lot of love and respect from the people of Tamilnadu. ‘#Kalaignar’s death is an irreplaceable loss to not only the State, but to every Tamilian. I pray that his soul rests in peace. I express my deepest condolences to his family, his party members and to the numerous Tamil souls spread globally.”

ACTRESS VARALAXMI 

Just like her father, Varalaxmi posted a few words expressing her sadness over the loss of former chief minister of Tamilnadu. She posted a cute picture from her childhood where she is standing with the DMK chief along with her father and captioned it ‘A one man army… fighter… writer… politician… A man with many faces… 75 years… No one can achieve what he did… I’m sure even after this he will continue to live on in our hearts… #Respect #Karunanidhi #RIP sir… strength to his family… A true leader in every way.”

CHOREOGRAPHER KALA MASTER

A popular name in the dance circuit, Kala Master has earned a name by teaching dance moves to prominent stars. Her reality show ‘Maanada Mayilada’ has crossed more than 10 seasons on Kalaignar TV. Posting an old picture with Karunanidhi at his residence. Kala Master has captioned it ‘Appa, miss u’.

ACTOR KHUSHBU SUNDER

Speaking about her happiest moment after joining the DMK, Khushbu tweeted an old picture with the words, “My most memorable day with my guru #DrKalaignar , the day I joined DMK. Can never forget the warmth, love and respect showered by the great man.”
