Author’s mother Padmavathi Srinivasan receives first copy from veteran journalist Meera Raghavendra Rao.

Chennai: A chartered accountant by profession, S Sundar Rajan, has come out with a collection of short stories, calledĀ  ‘Eternal Art‘. Speaking at the book release function at Odyssey bookstore at Adyar here on Sunday, he said they were planning an audio version of the book for the benefit of the visually-challenged.

Freelance journalist, author and blogger, N Meera Raghavendra Rao,
releasing the book, said writing is something that cannot be taught and has to come naturally fromĀ within.

“I realised that after reading Sundar Rajan’s book and felt that
people like me, who teach writing, are redundant because you don’t have
to do a course to bring out books if you have the talent,” she said.

“Sundar Rajan’s inspiration is people around him and he is also an
example that freelance writing can be pursued along with your
profession,” she said.

Author Sundar Rajan, Meera Raghavendra Rao and writer Jayaram Seshadri at the book release event.

Speaking about why he chose the title ‘Eternal Art’, author Sundar
Rajan said, “I broke my head over the title and couldn’t find anything
convincing since the stories are assorted. To me, story writing, when
done as a craft, is eternal and I am dedicating the book to my wife NityaĀ Kala, which when translated into English becomes Eternal Art,” he
said.

Sundar Rajan also said he would be translating his previous poetryĀ collection, ‘Beyond the Realms‘, and ‘Eternal Art‘ into Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam.

“Apart from that plans are also on to bring out an audio version of
the books that will be useful for visually challenged people and
Jayaram Seshadri will be helping me” he said. A finance professional, poet and writer, Jayaram Seshadri was the guest speaker at the event.

The first copy of the book was received by Padmavathi Srinivasan, the author’s mother.

The event was organised by the bookstore in celebration of Madras Week.
