Chennai: Three school boys who were detained by the city police for allegedly carrying a series of bike thefts were sent to Kellys Children’s Home this morning.
Karthik *(17), a resident of Kodambakkam, Nikil* (13), a resident of Choolaimedu and Mustaffa * (17), a resident of Choolaimedu were arrested for stealing six two-wheelers in Nungambakkam.
The boys hid the vehicles in various places and planned to sell them eventually.
A police source said,”The boys have been committing the crime for a while. The choolaimedu police began an inquiry when they got a complaint of bike theft on Saturday. The boys were caught with the help of CCTV footage in the locality.”
During inquiry, it was found that Karthik was a regular offender and was recently released from Kelly’s home.
