“There will be positive energy throughout ‘Saamy Square’,” says director Hari.
Talking about the film that is a sequel to his earlier hit ‘Saamy’, Hari says, “This cop story is more engaging than the first part and would be a real treat for Vikram fans.”
“Vikram has added more charm to the movie and his stunt sequences would be a major highlight,” he adds.
The movie stars Keerthy Suresh, Aishwarya Rajesh, Bobby Simha, Prabhu, Soori and Ramesh Khanna in key roles. Produced by Shibu Thameens, it has music by Devi Sri Prasad.
Excerpts from the interview:
Q: Tell us about ‘Saamy Square’.
A: It would be double the excitement of ‘Saamy’. It is a racy commercial entertainer. I feel it has come at the right time of my career. Thanks to my producer, there would be grandeur and richness in every frame. It would have positive elements of my other cop film ‘Singham’, too. We shot the movie in Delhi, Jaisalmer, Visakhapatnam and a song was canned in Ukraine.
Q: What is the movie about?
A: The main plot of ‘Saamy Square’ is the conflict that arises between Perumal Pichai and Aarusamy. Bobby Simha plays Aarusamy. Audience can connect well with the sequel. Though I revealed the storyline, the film will be interesting with twists and turns.
Q: How important is action in a police story?
A: Action defines such films. Both ‘Saamy’ and ‘Singham’ had breathtaking stunts. ‘Saamy Square’ is no different. We have crashed Sumos, helicopters and a lot of vehicles for stunt sequences. We have shot action scenes near Taj Mahal, Delhi airport and many more exciting locations. All credit to my producer.
Q: Tell us about your association with Vikram.
A: ‘Saamy’ is a film which lifted my career to a different level. Even before the release of ‘Saamy’, Vikram signed me for ‘Arul’. Later, we met several times but I couldn’t get a story line which suits his ‘performer’ image. Vikram is not just a star, people want him to perform on screen. He strives to excel in every frame. Vikram is a director’s delight.
Q: On Aishwarya Rajesh replacing Trisha in the sequel.
A: I deny reports that she plays a small role in the film. Her character has shaped up really well. She is a wonderful actress and done full justice to her character.
