Chennai: The Idol Wing Police is continuing its search at Poes Garden after they unearthed two ancient pillars from a bungalow belonging to KCP Sugars and Industries Limited last night.
The pillars were buried under the lawns which was unearthed by a team of Idol Wing Police led by A G Ponn Manickavel.
He said that 20 idols and artefacts were concealed on the premises at Third Street, Kasuri Estate, Poes Garden and would be dug out soon.
The raids were connected to the investigation against businessman Ranvir Shah.
This morning, officials and police enquired with KCP Sugars and Industries Corporation’s general manager Dayanidhi who was in the bungalow.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the idols were buried here four days ago. Yesterday’s raid began in the late evening and had to be stopped as officials needed heavy machinery to unearth the ancient idols.
Entrepreneur Kiran Rao holds the position of executive director of KCP Sugars and Industries Corporation and Ranvir Shah is an independent director in it. Recently, the Idol Wing team had unearthed 244 idols, pillars, artefacts from the Saidapet residence of Shah.
