“I am happy and thrilled to complete 50 films in such a short span of time,” says actress Hansika.

Her 50th venture is titled Maha, and it is a woman-centric movie that will go on the floors soon.

Speaking to News Today, Hansika says, “It is a thriller and my character has lots of variations.”

My career has so far been good with a variety of films. I want people to remember me as an actress who can do any role with ease, she says.

Excerpts from her interview.

Q: How did Maha happen?

A: I knew director Jameel when I worked in Romeo Juliet. He approached me with a heroine-oriented script and insisted that I do it. I was hesitant initially since I have never done such meaty roles before. But the narration and the story impressed me. Jameel insisted that I should do it. And I was pleasantly surprised when he said it was my 50th film. We have completed pre-production and photo shoot, too. Shooting will commence soon. I am excited as everything in the film is on my shoulders.

Q: Tell us about your other projects.

A: I am playing the female lead to Vikram Prabhu in Thuppaki Munai and working in a film opposite Atharvaa, titled 100. Both are cop stories. Thuppaki Munai is a stylish action film. And I feel it’s too early to reveal about 100.

Q: You recently acted in a Malayalam movie. How was the experience?

A: I was happy to share screen space with Mohanlal in Villain last year. It was a nice learning experience. But wherever I go, my heart is always here. I take utmost pride in being part of Tamil cinema.

Q: What is your favourite among the films that you have acted so far?

A: I love Aranmanai and Romeo Juliet. Both the movies portrayed me in different shades and audience appreciated my performance. I am eager to do more challenging roles.

Q: On your philanthropic activities.

A: I am constructing an old age home and orphanage on the outskirts of Mumbai. I am saving money for it. I come up with art works (paintings) during my leisure time, which I am planning put up as an exhibition. Funds generated from it would be given for charity.
