Ahead of the monsoon, the Metrowater is constructing a stormwater drain along the interior streets of Kalaignar Karunanidhi Road to replace the old channel.
Officials say the project is scheduled to be completed by December, when the monsoon ends.
Metrowater is also laying underground pipelines as part of its sewerage project in various parts around Saligramam.
