With a mix of cricket and kabaddi in a same storyline, Dhoni Kabaddi Kuzhu, an upcoming movie, had its audio launched on 26 November in Chennai on Monday.
Written and directed by P Iyappan and produced by S Nandakumar, the movie is about a group of local cricketers who are die-hard fans of Dhoni. The cricketers are forced to play kabaddi for a social cause in their village. The movie has five songs. The music director for the film is Roshan Joseph. The lyrics were penned by N Rasa while the background music was helmed by C M Mahendran.
The audio launch saw the participation of actors Aari and Appu Kutty, directors Kalyaan, Maruthu Pandiyan and Isaq along with producer and advocate, Raja Iyub Mohammed.
Speaking during the launch, the lead actor of Dhoni Kabaddi Kuzhu, Abhilash is known for starring in Tamil TV serial, My Dear Bootham said, “I grew up as a child artiste and I never had the opportunity to work as an actor in big films. At such time, Isaq sir helped me to get a role. Today I am a hero and I am honoured. I would like to thank the producers.”
He then said a few words about the movie. “It is about cricket and Kabbadi. Everyone can watch it. I hope that you all love it. Iyappan sir (director) is very hard working. He never let go off his passion for the movie and he has been working hard for over 13 years in cinema. I am pleased to work with a team of very dedicated artistes.”
Abhilash then complimented his co-star, Leema Babu, who plays as the romantic interest for his character in the movie. “I thank Leema. She was very flexible and professional to work with. She would always come on time during the shoot.”
Rasa said that the film’s songs have come out well while Mahendran, the background musician added, “It was nice to work here. The director and Abhilash worked along with me. My thanks to the producer for this opportunity.”
