Chennai: Nine persons were killed in mishaps that happened at various places of the State since last night, including four from a family who were travelling to Cuddapah were killed on the spot.
According to sources, “A car proceeding from SIPCOT hit a lorry from behind at Thaadikombu flyover. Four persons travelling the car were killed on the spot. All the deceased were going for a wedding in Aruppukottai from Karnataka. They were identified as Hareesh, Lokesh, Babu and Manjunathan.”
Meanwhile, in another mishap, five of a family were killed on the spot. One Gangadharan had returned from Kuwait late last night. He along with his family members left in a car to Cuddappah. When it reached Tirupathi, the driver of the car lost control and collided head on with a lorry.
Gangadharan, his wife Vijayamma, his brother Prasanna and his wife Mariyamma and a young child travelling in the car died. Renikunta police have filed a case and are investigating.
