Two couples held for robbing man in Chennai


Chennai: Two couples have been arrested for robbing a business man by soliciting him last night. According to the police, Vishwanathan (40) was driving from Gummidipoondi to Porur at 2 am to meet a friend when a woman stopped his car on the way and solicited.

Vishwanathan was not opposed to it and asked her to get in. The woman then asked if her friend could join in, and he said he was fine with it as well. At this time, two men opened the back door and began threatening him. He was made to part with his gold chain, bracelet, phone and Rs 10,000. The incident had shook him even after the men left.

When he reached Padi Bridge he narrated the details to a Traffic Inspector who relayed the message to the control room. After an investigation, the four person were arrested.

They were identified as Sukumar (25) his wife Varalakshmi (23), from Rajamangalam. The other couple is Venkatesh (28) and his wife Revathy (24) from Wall Tax Road.

Police said they targeted night drivers on Madhavaram, Redhills road. They steal their valuables including mobile phone so they will not inform the police. They were produced before a Magistrate and lodged in Puzhal jail.
