A long-time friend and the personal make-up artiste of actor Rajinikanth, L Muthappa passed away today at around 7.15 am. He was 75.
Muthappa started his career at AVM Studios and turned out to be a senior make-up artiste of the production house. He had worked with South Indian superstars including Sivaji Ganesan, MG Ramachandran, Rajkumar and Kamal Haasan, apart from Rajinikanth.
However, after a point on time, Muthappa became the personal make-up artiste of Rajinikanth and was exclusively working only for him. Apart from that, this veteran technician had also acted in more than 25 films.
Muthappa is always referred by Rajinikanth that he had a great passion to act in movies. “He has met Kamaraj who was a political leader leading a life for the welfare of the people. That moment he considers as the most memorable one in his life,” once Rajinikanth told about Muthappa.
With Rajinikanth, Muthappa had acted in movies like Annamalai, Velaikaran and Nallavanukku Nallavan.
A few years back, when speaking to a publication about sharing the screen space with the top actor, he said, “I never thought him or will think him as a superstar. He’s always my friend. So it was very easy for me to co-exist with him in front of the camera.”
