Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today said law and order is being maintained well in the State without much caste and religious riots.
On the last day of this Assembly Session today, in his motion of thanks to the Governor’s Address, Palaniswami said Tamilnadu is the front runner in setting up of CCTV cameras in public places.
He said the State has also become power surplus and added that work for the generation of 6,200 Megawatt electricity is in progress.
He further said several welfare schemes for the benefit of senior citizens and women have also been implemented.
Palaniswami said compared to last year, 2.41 lakh farmers have registered for crop insurance this year and added that the possibilities of Metro Rail services in Coimbatore are also in discussion.
He further said Tamilnadu stands second in attracting more investments in the Country.
“Ahead of the Global Investors Meet this year, 27 companies have already signed contract through which Rs 44,000 crore investment will be made in the State,” he added.
Palaniswami said so far 251 announcements were made under the 110 rule, out of which 31 works are completed, 191 works are progressing and orders are getting ready for the remaining announcements.
Earlier in the day, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam presented the first supplementary statement of expenditure for the year 2018-19.
