Chennai: Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu (HUTN) began its campaign with a 4-2 win over Central Industrial Security Force (CSF) in the 9th Hockey India Senior National Championship (Division B) here on Wednesday.
For TN, Joshua Benedict, V Vinod, K Selvaraj and S Manikandan scored a goal each to secure the victory . As early as the 7th munute Joshua got the scoreboard ticking with a goal. However in the dying minutes of firts half, Atif from CSF scored to equalise the score. The next goal was only scored in the second half with TN’s V Vinod scoring a field goal to take the lead.
CISF once equalised with a goal from Niraj Yadav through a fine shot from Harpreet Singh. TN then scored two more goals, one in the 45 th minute by Selvaraj and the other from a penalty corner in the 58th minute to take an unassailable lead and win the opener. For the hosts however, the much expected PR Sreejesh failed to turn up. HUTN will next take on Assam on Friday in its second Pool assignment of the event.
