A festive atmosphere prevailed across cinema halls today as they began screening Ajith-starrer Viswasam and Rajinikanth’s Petta early in the morning. Fans burst crackers, performed milk abhishekam to their favourite hero’s cut-out besides singing and dancing in front of theatres since 1 am.
A select few theatres screened Ajith’s Viswasam as early as 1 am. Fans gathered in large numbers and cheered as cinema halls opened.
At Rohini, GK, Jothi Theatre, Mayajaal, Vettri Cinemas in and around the city, the Ajith-starrer was screened amidst loud cheers.
Kasi Theatre in Ekkaduthangal saw Petta premiered and it was attended by the crew of the movie, including filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj.
Karakattam, DJ show besides cracker display were organised at the theatre. People gathered early in the morning and a majority of them wore black T-shirts with Rajinikanth’s photograph on it. No sooner the theatre gates opened, they rushed inside whistling and cheering.
With a long holiday for Pongal festival and good reviews for both films, the coming days are expected to see packed houses across the State.
Latha Rajinikanth, Dhanush, Aishwarya Dhanush among others caught the first show of Petta at Rohini Theatres.
Besides Rajinikanth, Petta features Simran, Trisha, Bobby Simha, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vijay Sethupathi among others. Music is by Anirudh.
Viswasam has Ajith, Nayanthara, Jagapathy Babu, Vivek, Robi Shankar in the cast. Music is by D Imman.
