Chennai: Chennai-based company specialising in submersible robotic inspections deployed a team to join the operation to rescue 15 miners in Meghalaya on Sunday.
The miners have been trapped inside a flooded rat-hole coal mine for a month now and a multi-agency effort to rescue them is underway.
According to a company official, one Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) and a six-member team of the firm have joined the operation. The Planys Technologies is an IIT-Madras incubated company that provides submersible robotic inspections and survey solutions using ROV.
Since 13 December 2018, the miners have been trapped inside the 370-foot-deep illegal coal mine in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills district. Water from a nearby river had gushed in puncturing the mine wall.
The Indian Navy and planes and helicopters of the Indian Air Force have been deployed in the rescue operation.
It has been reported that the Supreme Court is hearing a PIL for urgent action regarding the matter. The Centre on Friday told SC that it has to believe in miracles and see if the miners come out alive.
