Police to introduce robot to manage chaotic Chennai traffic

Chennai: Being a traffic manager on Chennai roads would not even be the last on the list of jobs one would apply for. But here is some relief for people who are already manning the chaotic, pollution-spewing traffic on the narrow roads of Chennai. The city is going to be the first in the country to get a robot to man traffic.

According to reports, the robot would regulate traffic on the roads, help schoolchildren cross the road and generally ensure that discipline is maintained on the roads.

Chennai Commissioner of Police A K Viswanathan introduced the robot at the exhibition on road safety organised at the commissionerate today.

The robot explained road safety rules in an attractive and easy manner for children to understand the concepts at the exhibition.
