Chennai: The Railway Ministry has announced the extension of three trains over Southern Railway for the benefit of passengers.
According to a press release, the extension of the two Mail/Express services is set to provide better connectivity from important destinations of Tamilnadu to eastern and western parts of India. It further noted that the intra-railway MEMU service extension will benefit the people of Vellore district.
Villupuram-Kharagpur-Villupuram Bi-Weekly (22604/22603) express has been extended upto Purulia, West Bengal with additional stoppages at Hijli, Midnapore, Bishnupur, Bankura and Adra.
Likewise, train (22632/22631) Chennai-Bikanir-Chennai Anuvrat Weekly Express has been extended to commence from Madurai with additional stoppages at Chennai Egmore (instead of Chennai Central), Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Ariyalur, Srirangam, Tiruchi, Dindigul and Kodaikanal Road.
Also, train (66019/66020) Salem-Katpadi-Salem MEMU local has been extended upto Arakkonam with additional stoppages at Mukundarayapuramm, Walajah Road and Sholingur. The date of extension and scheduled timings for these trains will be notified later, the release said.
