Chennai: Two teachers got helping hands from unknown faces through ImpactGuru.com to meet their medical expenses.

According to a press release, 30-year-old C Reena, teacher from PUP School, Medavakkam, suffered a terrible bout of fits while on the bike with her husband Raja and 1-year-old son. Reena sustained brain haemorrhage and cranial damage. She was advised brain surgery by Apollo Hospitals Chennai which amounts to Rs 15 lakh.

“Raja found it difficult to raise this large amount as he already had collected 2.50 lakh after borrowing from family and friends. Raja then put a heartfelt appeal on ImpactGuru.com. In a span of two weeks, 430 donors came forward and contributed Rs 7.5 lakh for Reena’s treatment,” the release said.

In case incident, Kannan, teacher at Government High School, Athivakkam, was diagnosed with severe acute respiratory distress syndrome with septic shock.

“Kannan was admitted at Apollo Hospitals Chennai and advised three weeks of ICU care for recovery, cost of which is Rs 25 lakh. As Kannan is the sole earning member, his wife Sujatha found it difficult to cope with the mounting expenses. She then took to crowdfunding on ImpactGuru.com. So far, 231 donors have come forward and contributed Rs 6 lakh,” the release said.
